Bout of Books - Day 5

Pages read today: 10 pages.
Time devoted to reading today: 15 minutes.

Total of pages read so far: 127 pages
Time devoted to reading so far: about 3h15.

I've been slacking a bit but had to take care of somethings at work to get a relaxed vacation week (YAY! now I'll be doing some heavy reading!) and have been coming down with a cold. Yes, a cold during summer and when I'm getting a week off work. Just my luck.

Challenge:
Again I didn't entered the challenge.

Bout of Books - Day 4

Pages read today: 0 pages.
Time devoted to reading today: none. It was a long day, I was exhausted and just couldn't find the strenght to pick up a book.

Total of pages read so far: 117 pages
Time devoted to reading so far: about 3 hours

Challenges:
Book Road Trip @ In Wonderland
I love going on road trips or any kind of trip for that matter and I always bring a TON of books with me. For this challenge, I'd like for you to come up with a list of the top 5-10 states/places you'd love to visit and find a book (you either read or want to read) that takes place in that state/place or a book by an author who lives or is from there.
I Spy... @ Paperback Dreamer
For today’s challenge all you need is your bookshelf and/or your eReader, and a fun attitude! I’m sure many of you remember the fun “I Spy” books when we were younger, it would tell you to find a particular object in the picture of clutter and you would have to find it, well I thought it would be fun to do that with our book covers. The object of this game is to find the specific items listed below using the books you own! I do have just a few rules for this challenge so that it is a little more challenging.
Rules:
  1. You can only use a particular book one time for the objects listed.
  2. You can only use two books from a series and then you can’t use that series again to find the remaining objects.
  3. You must use a book that you own either physically or electronically.
You can find the list here.

I didn't participate in any of them but they did sound fun. I'm just posting them here in case any one might be interested.

Bout of Books - Day 3

Pages read today: 34 pages of O Navegador da Passagem.
Time devoted to reading today: again, about an hour. Better than nothing.

Total of pages read so far: 117 pages
Time devoted to reading so far: about 3 hours

Challenge:
TBR List Challenge @ Musings of a Bookship Girl
1. Which 5 books are at the top of your TBR pile at this moment?
Some books lent by friends and from the library and one about Portuguese current economic-political crisis: A History of Private Life: From Pagan Rome to Byzantium, Dead Witch Walking, Midnight Awakening, Cloud Atlas, O Meu Programa de Governo.
2. If I gave you a wad of cash and sent you into a bookshop right now, which 5 books would you buy to add to the stack?

Book Spine Poetry @ Such a Novel Idea
The rules are simple:
1. Find some books, and create a poem out of their spine.
2. Take a picture of the spine poem.
3. Upload it on the link.
I'm skipping this one because I'm way too tired to find books and make poetry. It's been a very long day.

Bout of Books - Day 2

Pages read today: 43 pages of O Navegador da Passagem.
Time devoted to reading today: again, about an hour.

Total of pages read so far: 83 pages
Time devoted to reading so far: 2 hours

Challenge:
Re-Title It @ Music Plus Books
Today I'll be hosting the Re-Title It Challenge. Sound too easy? Well actually, it is that easy. All you have to do is rename the book you're currently reading or more if you'd like. If you've haven't started a book, you can judge it by the cover. For all you bothered people, if this is too easy, don't worry! You can remake the whole cover if you'd like as well. Either way, I'd love to see what all you guys come up with.
I'm reading O Navegador da Passagem (something like The Passage's Sailor), which is set during the Discoveries and tries to tell the story of Bartolomeu Dias, the captain that for the first time rounded the coast of Africa in 1488. I would rename it O Capitão do Fim (or The Captain of the End) which is how Fernando Pessoa, a Portuguese poet, called him in poems devoted to the Discoveries.

Bout of Books 8.0 - Day 1

Pages read today: 40 pages of O Navegador da Passagem but the day isn't over yet.

Time devoted to reading: about an hour, sadly not consecutive. I've read for about 15 minutes before going to bed (at 1 a.m.) and then about 40 minutes while commuting. Being August there's really no traffic which means less time to read on the bus. Also I was quite lazy at lunch and didn't felt like reading. Will try to read a bit more before getting to bed.

I also tried to participate on the mini-challenges. At Sarah Says Read we're invited to share our bookish goals, mine is to read the 1001 books to read before I die, but since there are at least 3 lists they're more like 1300 books to read (already read 33, not bad I think :D ); and at Book Pairing we're to post photos of what we pair our books with. Today when I got home it was like this:

Ice tea and cookies.

Artigos interessantes:

Leituras:
Diana: Wolf Hall, de Hilary Mantel
Telma: O Padrinho, de Mario Puzo
Carla: O Navegador da Passagem, de Deana Barroqueiro

Porque música é poesia (25)

Freelance Whales - Generator First Floor

We get up early just to start cranking the generator
Our limbs have been asleep we need to get the blood back in 'em
We're finding every day several ways we could be friends

We keep on churning and the lights inside the house turn on
And in our native language we are chanting ancient songs
And when we quiet down the house chants on without us

With all the lights alive we figured what your heart was for,
And did a painting of you lying on the first floor
And when those stop your heart moans out for more
